Education Advisory Board of Cosmos Ndukwe Foundation has reiterated its commitment to ensuring that more and more brilliant but indigent students are offered opportunities of acquiring higher education. However, the Body through its Head Prof Onwukwe Alaezi disclosed that the Foundation will no longer fund accommodation of students owing to the practice of some scholars who abandon facilities approved and within their institutions in preference for private lodges.
In order to deliver on its mandate of encouraging quality education, the Foundation will channel such funds to other more critical areas. For the 2018/2019 session, beneficiaries will receive grants for tuition, relevant books and other fees provided that such monies will be credited straight into the accounts of institutions of the beneficiaries. These measures have been designed to ensure that the beneficiaries do not divert such funds to other needs not in tandem with objectives of the Foundation’s Undergraduate Scholarship Programme.
The Foundation’s Scholarship programme retains a pool of no fewer than fifty scholars each year in a planned bid to encourage as many persons hit by paucity of funds to have access to quality education. Over the years, applicants who benefitted from the Foundation free school certificate exams programme are given utmost priority in the selection process. Generally, Applicants are screened and selected on the bases of their qualifying school certificate exams, provided they have been offered provisional admission by institutions of their choice.
