UNITED NATIONS GRANTS COSMOS NDUKWE FOUNDATION SPECIAL CONSULTATIVE STATUS

After a long and tasking journey that commenced in January 2018, the United Nations through its Committee on NGOs has granted Cosmos Ndukwe Foundation SPECIAL Consultative Status. The Foundation has by this status joined about 5,000 NGOs in more than 100 countries of the world to enjoy this status

Consultative Status provides NGOs with access to not only Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) but also to its many subsidiary bodies, to the various human rights mechanisms of the United Nations, ad-hoc processes on small arms, as well as special events organized by the President of the General Assembly.

In granting this, the COMMITEE verified our projects, funding, consistency and sustainability. We recollect that in one of the correspondence via NGO Response System, we were asked what we mean by “EMPOWERMENT”. What we answered? The grant proves we know what international best practice of EMPOWERMENT is.

We thank Chika Ojiegbe whose advice, resourcefulness and direction qualified us for this feat. Thanks my brother and friend.
