Bashirah Okeh


Bashirah Okeh is a recent graduate of New York University (NYU) with a Master of Science in Real Estate, Finance and Investment.

She is a selected member of the Hirsh Fellows at NYU Schack Institute of Real Estate, the Commercial Real Estate Finance Council, and Urban Land Institute.

With a background in community development, Bashirah aims to build a career in real estate development and finance. As a community leader and consultant, Bashirah has collaborated with diverse stakeholders to build capacity for systems improvement.

She contributed to strategic planning for inclusive playground development, the transformation of retail spaces into learning landscapes for children, and roundtable discussions with New York City Mayor Eric Adams, the former Brooklyn Borough President, to effectively utilize underutilized spaces.

Notable housing organizations she's supported include the New York City Housing Authority, Community Solutions, and Enterprise Community Partners. At NYU Schack Institute of Real Estate, Bashirah has published articles on sustainability in the student-led publication Blueprint and represented the school at the United Nations and the "Venturing into Distress" collaboration on negotiating work-out agreements alongside colleagues from MIT and Harvard.

She is the founder of NYU School of Professional Studies' BIPOC Student Union, creating avenues for underrepresented students to succeed. Bashirah is dedicated to creating positive social and economic impact and aims to advance strategies for inclusive and sustainable urban growth.
